Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information LA COOP (“we,” “us”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have while using the LA COOP private beta (the “Service”). By applying, creating an account, or using the Service, you agree to this policy.
1. Who this applies to
This policy covers waitlist applicants and approved beta members. LA COOP is an invite-only professional network for Gen-Z users. The Service is operated from the United States.
2. Age and minors
You must be at least 13 years old to use LA COOP. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it and close the account. If you are 13–17, you may only use the Service with a parent or guardian’s permission, and that parent or guardian must review and agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms. Parents or guardians who believe a minor under 13 has provided information may contact us to request deletion.
3. Information we collect
Account and profile: name, email address, password (stored hashed by our auth provider), date of birth (for age eligibility), parent/guardian consent attestation when you are 13–17, headline, identity tags, optional school name, profile photo, and beta terms / NDA acceptance records. Content and activity: posts, comments, likes, follows, group membership, company and listing data you add, direct messages, in-app notifications, saved searches, and similar product activity. Technical data: session cookies needed to keep you signed in, approximate location derived from your request (for features such as nearby opportunities), device/browser signals our hosting provider may log (for example IP address and timestamps) for security and reliability, and idle-session signals used to sign you out after inactivity.
4. How we use information
We use this information to run and secure the Service; review waitlist applications; create and maintain your account; personalize feeds and discovery; deliver direct messages and notifications; send transactional emails (waitlist confirmation, approval, password codes, and copies of in-app activity such as likes, comments, follows, and messages); enforce invite-only access, community rules, and the beta NDA; prevent abuse and debug issues; and improve the product using aggregated or de-identified insights where practical.
5. How information is shared
Other members: approved members can see profile information and content you share in public or group contexts. Direct messages are visible only to participants in that conversation. Service providers: we use vendors to host the app, store data, authenticate users, and send email (including Supabase and Resend). They process data only to provide those services to us. Legal and safety: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect members, the Service, or others. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Retention
We keep account and content data while your account is active and as needed to operate the beta, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Because this is an early beta, we may reset, migrate, or delete data as the product changes. When you ask us to close your account, we will delete or de-identify personal data we no longer need, subject to backups and legal retention needs.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards appropriate for a private beta, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed passwords via our auth provider, access controls for admin tools, and session expiration after inactivity. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Report suspected security issues through Contact in the app or the email listed there.
8. Your choices and rights
You can update profile information in the product, choose what you post or message, and request account closure or data deletion by contacting us. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EEA/UK), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to certain processing. We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law. You may also opt out of non-essential emails where offered; transactional emails about your account may still be sent.
9. International transfers
If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where we or our providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your home country.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, when changes are material, provide additional notice in the product or by email when practical. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and ask us to close your account.
11. Contact
Privacy questions, parent/guardian requests, or deletion requests: use Contact inside the product, or email the address shown on the Contact page.
